On April 19, 2013, the time for departure came for Thomas Clinton Lindemann. He fought the good fight, and finished the race having kept the faith. “Now there is in store for me, the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing”. 2 Timothy 4:8 In Tom’s own words: “This has been a good life. I have had so many beautiful memories that I cannot list them all. So many of my memories happened because God seemed to have been there to be sure I made the right choice”.
Tom was born at home in Galveston, Texas on September 16, 1922 to Thomas Clinton and Esther May Jones Lindemann. Growing up during the depression gave him a lifelong appreciation of the value of a dollar which he tried to instill into his children and grandchildren.
He served the U.S. Army as a member of the Signal Corp during World War II. On May 18, 1957 he married Martha Evelyn Brady, the girl who caught his eye at a Coffee Club at First Methodist Church in Houston. The Lord blessed them with 3 daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and a great grandchild. He owned and operated the T. C. Lindemann Agency, an independent insurance agency, for 44 years. His legacy of being in insurance has been passed on to several of his family members.
Tom was a Veteran, a member of Bellaire United Methodist Church, the Gibson Sunday School class and more recently the Seekers Sunday School Class, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Throughout the years, he served the Lord at Bellaire United Methodist in a number of capacities. His passions were fishing, family reunions at Lakeview, being Senior Adult Coordinator, and planting special butterfly attracting plants around the church and School for Little Children.
Tom is survived by his wife Evelyn Lindemann; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Greg Herwald, Linda and Wayne Wheatley, and Jan Lindemann; 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. There is also 1 nephew, 3 nieces, their spouses and children, and numerous friends.
Memorials may be made to Bellaire United Methodist Church or Lakeview Methodist Conference Center.
