Vera Marie Burke was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas P., her four brothers Clyde, Lloyd, Bernard S., and Leonard and her parents Bernard B. and Armide Daigle. She is survived by her only child, son Thomas B. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vera and Thomas always wanted a big family...but God had other plans. She studied at Holy Name of Mary and Martin Behrman High School in Algiers. She attended Soule Business College and studied cosmetology at Rabouin Academy in New Orleans, Louisiana. She worked as a hair stylist at The Silhouette in New Orleans before meeting her future husband in Bandera, Texas and marrying and moving to Denver where she worked in the Army Air Corps Officers Club at Lowry Field. She returned to New Orleans to give birth to her son and later moved to Houston after The War where her husband worked as a bank teller for Jesse Jones at the National Bank of Commerce. In 1959 the family moved to Bellaire, Texas where she dedicated her life to her family. She was a kind, thoughtful, considerate and loving wife, mother, God-Mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and neighbor. She always greeted guests with a warm welcome, big smile, and delighted in serving others food. A very loving person, she will be missed by all who knew her.
