Virginia was born on March 4, 1935, in Guantanamo, Cuba. She was the daughter of Zumbul Yojay and Mordechai Varon. She was the youngest of three, alongside her older sister Esther and older brother Benjamin [both now deceased].
On July 26, 1959, Virginia married her life-long love, Rosendo “Chendo” Gonzalez, and together they grew a beautiful life filled with love and countless happy memories. They were married for almost 65 years, and are now reunited again.
Together, they had and raised two children, Rosendo “Ross” and Argelia. Virginia was a dedicated wife and mother, and her family was above all else.
Virginia was extremely bright. She received an associate degree in Guantanamo, Cuba, and worked as a bookkeeper and managed her brother’s department store after arriving in Houston in the early 1970s. She knew the importance of education and hard work, and made countless sacrifices that would help shape and pave the way for her family’s success and achievements.
While late in life she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, her smile and beautiful spirit always remained.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished moments. She is survived by her two children, Argelia and Ross [married to Mireya], her grandchildren, Carlos [married to Danielle] , Zachary [married to Ileana], Gabrielle, and her precious great-grand daughter Elena.
Following the service, Virginia will be laid to rest alongside her husband and mother.
