

Dr. Adam received her medical degree from Charles University in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1950. She was a professor at Charles University Faculty of Medicine till 1961, when she joined the faculty of Prague Institute for Postgraduate Education. In 1969, Dr. Adam settled in Houston and became one of the first geriatrics specialists and a founding member of the Geriatrics Society of the Harris County Medical Society. For many years, she was the Medical director of patient care at St Anthony Center, then The Total Life Center, and at the age of 79, she ended her carrier as Baylor College of Medicine staff physician at the Seven Acres nursing home. Dr. Adam taught generations of medical students, residents and fellows in geriatrics. She will be greatly missed by her family-husband of 59 years, Ervin Adam, M.D., daughters Alice and Karolina, son in law John, grandchildren Jonathan, Johana and Joshua, and many friends.
After a private burial, the family and friends will say goodbye at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church at 9900 Stella Link Rd. Houston, Tx. 77025, on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 11 am.
