Volf was a resident of Houston, Texas. Volf was a wartime child. He was born during the Second war in evacuation in the Ural Mountains. Although the family was not bombed there, they lived in great need. It was a very hungry time. Volf and his brothers were often fed ground grain mixed with water.
When the family returned to Ukraine, near Korosten, they moved between relatives and rented apartments. Volf, or Vova, was a very affectionate and fun-loving child and always wanted to be with his brothers. One of his passions was fishing, which his older brother Fima also loved.
At school age, Volf was very athletic. His favorite sport was soccer, and Vova was the goalkeeper of the city team. After his father’s death, he became the main support for his mother.
He later went into the army, where he also played soccer and worked as a driver. After the army, he trained as a gas and electric welder, which became his lifelong profession.
He was married twice. His second marriage lasted more than 50 years. He helped raise his stepson and loved his granddaughters very much.
Volf and his family came to Houston in 1997. It was difficult to start life from scratch. He learned a little English and worked as a driver. He was a kind man and helped people whenever he could.
When his wife was injured, he gave his strength and health to care for her for more than 15 years.
Rest in peace, Vova. Your kind memory will remain forever in our hearts.
Burial will be held at Beth Yeshurun Post Oak Cemetery, 7445 Awty School Lane, Houston, TX 77055, US, on September 8, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
