

W. T. was born to Wallace Dismuke, Sr., and Mattie E. King on August 19, 1929, in Grenada, Mississippi. In October 1955, he married Chieko Tatsumi in Japan. After transferring back to the United States, they lived in many states, including Tennessee, Kentucky, Colorado, and Hawaii. In 1964, they made San Antonio, Texas, their long-term home. Together, they raised three children.
He is survived by his three sons—Rudy Dismuke, Carl Dismuke, and Erick Dismuke. Through his son Carl and his wife Martha, he has five grandchildren—Joseph, Ashley, Emily, Steven, and Matthew. Through his son, Rudy, and his wife, Susanne, he has two grandchildren—Christopher and Sarah. W.T. also has two great-grandchildren—Samantha and Elizabeth, who are the children of Joseph and his wife, Lucinda.
After the death of Chieko in 2004, W.T. married Veronica De Lourdes Flores Ramirez. She has four children—Gissella, Cristabel, Cesar, and Alfredo—from previous marriages. W. T. loved his children, his children’s spouses, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and Veronica’s children dearly.
He was preceded in death by his sister Nell Camp and his brother Buddy Dismuke.
W. T. retired from the United States Army in 1969. In 1946, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps for 3 years. He served in Germany, where he was a truck driver during the Berlin Airlift. He re-enlisted during the Korean War, and he became a paratrooper and combat medic. He served with the 25th Infantry and the 187th Regimental Combat Team during the Korean War, and he was awarded the Combat Medical Badge. His other military assignments included Fort Bragg with the 82nd Airborne unit and Fort Campbell with the 101st Airborne unit. He also worked at Fitzsimons General Hospital in Denver and Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio as a medical assistant/technician. Finally. He served in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive and was awarded a Bronze Star.
He was a private pilot and flight instructor, and he loved aeronautics, astronomy, and space travel. He finished his career working in the civil service at Randolph Air Force Base, working with flight simulators.
A visitation is scheduled for 8:30 AM to 10 AM on July 6, 2026, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, located at 4525 Bissonnet St. in Bellaire, Texas 77401. He will be buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
The family requests that donations be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, and other staff at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, who treated him in his final days.
