She was born on July 7, 1938 in Belleville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Rudolph Hecke and Flora Hecke (nee Kirsch).
Aletha married Roland A. Biehl in 1966. He preceded her in death. She later married James Schon on April 15, 1972 at St. Theresa’s Church in Belleville. He preceded her in death.
On Labor Day in 1962, at a mere 24 years old, Aletha was crowned Union Label Queen and given the key to the city of Belleville. Aletha’s passion was cooking and volunteering. She volunteered anywhere and everywhere she was needed. She could be seen volunteering with her children at school, donating blood, or providing a delicious home cooked meal for someone in need. Cookies were her specialty. No one could compete with her Christmas cookies. There was no cause to big or small for her to lend a helping hand and a smile. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
In addition to her husband James, she is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Victor Hecke.
Aletha, is survived by two children Dianne (Joe) Stock of Belleville and Roland (Lynn) Biehl of Smithton; ten grandchildren Rachel, Jeannine, Joey, Noah, Audrey, Jack, Tirzah, Benjamin, Kinsey, and Kaylin; and extended family that will miss her dearly.
