Charles Edward Johnson

Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a church elder with Peace Luther Church in Belleville and later with Christ Our Savior in Freeburg. He worked 37 years with the Bell Systems Telephone Company. He enjoyed time spent outdoors, camping and fishing. He enjoyed a good conversation with friends, family, and strangers, alike. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Ann Johnson, nee Heinke and his parents, Anton E. and Ethel M., nee Mantle, Johnson.

Surviving are his children, Brian Johnson, of Sachse, Texas, Tom (Cindy) Johnson, of Belleville, Illinois, and Susan (Randy) Hoffman, of Hubbard, Iowa; his grandchildren, Joyce (Darin Davis), Christina Berne, Evan Johnson, Emma Johnson, Sara Hoffman, and Anna Hoffman; four great grandchildren, Kaylee, Noah, Bella, and Hannah; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
