Dale “Dog” Cleveland, 73, of Millstadt, IL, formerly of Washington Park, IL, was born on June 16th, 1950, died on October 25, 2023, at his residence. He passed from extended illness after suffering many strokes and stage 5 kidney disease.
Dale retired in 2004 from the Village of Washington Park Fire Dept. after 20-years of dedicated service. He worked part-time at Bel Air Bowl and umpired men’s softball at Our Lady of Assumption (OLA). He spent his free time bowling, playing/umpiring softball, and was a horse racing enthusiast. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and fan of sports in general. Of all his activities being the number #1 Pa-Pa was his favorite past-time. He never missed a chance to spend time, spoil, or attend one of his grandkid’s activities and they could do no wrong in his eyes. In addition to Dales other accolades, he rescued several individuals from burning buildings, delivered a baby, and was a Scout Master to a troop of young boys, many of which were underprivileged. He accepted Christ as a young man at Rosemont Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Juanita and Virgil Cleveland, his brothers and sisters-in-law Charles, David (Pattie), and Timothy Cleveland, and his nephew Jim Huetsch.
