David N. Muskopf

Dave was born November 30, 1955 in Belleville, IL to Leroy and Shirley (Seifferth) Muskopf. He married Ellen Crook on November 22, 1986 in Waterloo, IL.

Together, they shared nearly 40 years of marriage. Ellen survives and resides in Belleville, IL.

Also surviving are his children, CAPT Brad W. (Jamie) Muskopf of Port Orchard, WA, Kyle D. (fiancée, Lily Sparen) Muskopf of Belleville, IL and Lindsey E. (Austin) Herald of Belleville, IL; grandchildren, Bryan Hatch, Miles Muskopf and Victoria Muskopf; his sister, Merribeth (Lee) Tubbesing of Columbia, MO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry L. Muskopf.

Throughout his life, he took pride in and supported all aspects of his children's extracurricular, personal, and professional endeavors, from their childhood through adulthood, never missing a game, concert or promotion.

Dave worked at Red Wing Shoe Store in St. Louis from 1978, until his retirement in 2021. At his retirement, he owned and managed the store. His job brought him friendships throughout his many years.

Dave loved music and passed that love onto his children. His band, The Turnabouts, played throughout the Southern Illinois area.

He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Belleville and also served the church as the choir director. He recently played with the SWIC Jazz Band, sharing his talents and love of music throughout the community.

Dave loved all sports, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, who rarely missed watching or listening to a game.

Both he and Ellen truly enjoyed their retirement, traveling as much as possible together. Many of their travels were spent with their wonderful group of friends and making many unforgettable memories. The photos, moments and laughter that they shared will truly never be forgotten.

Dave’s lifelong friend group, “The Chumps”, has stood the test of time and has been a strong support system to Dave and Ellen throughout the years.

Dave will be remembered for his love of music, his strong work ethic and above all else, his love for his family. He will truly never be forgotten and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M.- 3:00 P.M. at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

A memorial service for Dave will follow the visitation, at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Friends and family are welcome to in celebration of Dave's life at Charlie's Place in Belleville following services.

Private final interment will be held at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
