Debra Sisk, nee Leonard, born Nov. 19, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas left this life Nov. 5, 2018 in Millstadt, Illinois.

Debi taught English at Columbia High School and Edwardsville High School as well as in East St. Louis. She was an adjunct at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, a member of the DAR, and Lovejoy Library. She was smart, brash, generous, loving well-read, and funny. Her generosity was evident even after her passing as she gave the gift of life by being a tissue donor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Leonard and Dixie Woodrum; her father and mother-in-law, Harold and Sally Sisk; a brother, Christopher Leonard; a sister, Stacey Weaver; and a son-in-law, Jason Schroder.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert “Bob” Sisk; three daughters, Sonya (Josh) Marsh, Jennifer (John) Duncan, and Emily (Dave) Layman; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth and Mary Layman; Joel and Jenna Duncan; and Miranda, Nicholas, Keenan, and Charlie Marsh; friends Glenn and Sue Vollmer, and Taree McGee; and the thousands of students she taught and inspired.

A Celebration of Debi’s Life will be held on her birthday, Nov. 19, 2018 at Tim & Joe’s, 6500 W. Main St., Belleville from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

I was on the friends board with Deb, I remember when the twins were born how
happy she was ,also she shared pictures of them at the meetings. I was happy and glad to know her.
