

Dorothy was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Freeburg and served on the New Athens Public Library Board. For 24 years she was Personal Secretary to the Vice-Commander of the Military Air Lift Command at Scott Air Force Base. Prior to that, Dorothy was employed by the New Athens Savings & Loan. She enjoyed her Bridge Club, playing cards, reading, as well as teaching and playing the piano but her greatest love was being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Dale J. Carr; her parents, Oliver and Olga, nee Hauptfleisch, Leister; and a brother-in-law Harold Baebler.
She is survived by a daughter Diane (Rick) Weilmuenster of New Athens; a son, David (Jill) Carr of New Athens; four grandchildren who affectionately called her “Grandma Mautzy”, Tara (Dean) Brueggemann; Chad (Teresa) Weilmuenster; Abby (Jordan) Woodward; and Blake (Amanda Rickert) Weilmuenster; six great-grandchildren, Colin and Jase Brueggemann, Adrik and Brekin Woodward, Kyra and Ty Weilmuenster; a sister, Marion Baebler of Waterloo, Ill; an aunt, Hazel Bischoff of Belleville, Ill.; a niece, Kristine (Dale) Ripplemeyer; a nephew, Michael (Marsha)Baebler; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at St. Paul’s United Christ of Christ, 210 West White Street, Freeburg, Ill. with Pastor Earl Crecelius officiating. Interment will be in the Oakridge Cemetery, New Athens, Ill.
