James A. Arnold Jr.

James A. Arnold, Jr., of Aviston, IL passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025 surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Arnold, Sr. and Elizabeth J. Arnold (nee Boershig). James is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Arnold (nee Clement); sons, Daniel (Laura) Arnold of Aviston, IL and Timothy (Christine) Arnold of Wentzville, MO; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Colten, and Zachary Arnold; and his beloved dog, Gracie.

James was a member of Cathedral of Saint Peter in Belleville prior to moving to Aviston when he became a member of St. Francis of Assisi. He was a dedicated family man who loved spending time watching his grandchildren play sports. James would even travel to enjoy these special times. In his healthier days, he also liked helping his sons with household projects. He was very passionate and proud of his 2011 yellow Camaro convertible which he purchased brand new. He most recently enjoyed his weekly lunches with his grandson, Colten. His little dog, Gracie, followed him everywhere and his love for his family was immeasurable. He will be missed but the memories will always be lovingly remembered.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, July 16 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Pkwy W, Belleville, IL 62223. Following the service, James will be laid to rest at Valhalla Gardens of Memory. Memorials are appreciated to Hospice of Southern IL.
