James “Larry” Halcomb, Sr, 69, of Belleville, IL passed away suddenly at his residence. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hulan and Martha Halcomb and a brother, Richard L. Halcomb. Larry is survived by his sons, James Halcomb, Jr., Beau Halcomb, and Nicholas Halcomb; grandchildren, James, Robert, Diana, Kellen, Camden, and Beau; brother, H. William (Joyce) Halcomb; and business partner and best friend, Joe Daniel.
Larry was a gentle and kind man with a very distinct and jolly laugh. He was a member of Ainad Shrine, Scottish Rite, East Lodge #504 and former governor of the Moose Lodge in O’Fallon, IL. Larry was passionate about guns and hunting. He was a mentor to many young people and helped care for and raise Dylan Cable as he would his own sons. Larry cherished his relationships with people and would do anything to help people out. He was a self-employed repair business owner for over 30 years and shared his skills and knowledge with his friend, Joe, who will continue to share his wisdom in legacy in the business. His kind heart and gentle spirit will be missed.
A celebration of Larry’s life is being planned pending cremation and will be shared as soon as possible. Memorials are appreciated to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children and expressions of condolence may be offered at www.valhallagardensandfuneralhome.com.
