

Jean was born April 27, 1945 in East St. Louis, IL to Charles L. Hudson And Wilma Kay Perdue Hudson. Jean married Henry D. Van Hoose Sr. on October 10, 1964; he preceded her in death on November 23, 2017.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Danny Van Hoose and sister, Nancy Kay Jones.
Jean is survived by her loving family, including her children, Brad (Sharon Law) Van Hoose of Belleville, IL, Denise (Eric) Wellinghoff of Fairview Heights, IL, Barbara “Babs” (Kevin) Dunaway of Collinsville, IL, and Kelli (Craig) Black of Collinsville, IL; grandchildren, Abigail (Thomas) Keyser, Gracie Van Hoose, Trey (Lauren) Wellinghoff, Samantha (Nick) Emke, Nolan Wellinghoff, Sophie Wellinghoff, Ryan Dunaway, Gavin Dunaway, Collin Black and Natalie Black; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Averi, Waylon, Meadow and Timbrooke; siblings, John Hudson Jr., Brenda Ravenscraft, Sheryl (John) Dodson and Gail Johnson; her special friend, Wayne Bovinett; her very special Aunt, Betty Burrelsman and many beloved nieces, nephew and cousins.
Jean will be remembered as a hardworking and vibrant woman who brought warmth and kindness to everyone she met. She built a successful career selling cars with Newbold Toyota in Belleville and found joy in her work as a Mary Kay consultant and director, where she uplifted others with her encouragement and smile. She also truly loved working at Abbey Sew & Vac and all of the fun friends she met there.
At home, Jean’s true passion was cooking—she loved preparing meals and sharing them generously with family, friends, and neighbors. Her love of beauty showed in the flowers she tended with care and the sewing projects she poured her creativity into.
Above all else, Jean loved her children and grandchildren dearly. There was never a time she wasn’t there supporting them, guiding and loving them. They were truly the light of her life and their accomplishments brought her endless joy.
Jean’s legacy is one of generosity, strength, and love. She will truly be missed.
A visitation for Jean will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 2:00 P.M.- 6:00 P.M. at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
A funeral service will be held Monday, October 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM the funeral home. Final interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
