SSgt, Jeannine Jone Phillips, USAF, Retired, 61, of Belleville, Illinois, born June 14, 1957 in Chateauroux City, France, passed away, Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at home, surrounded by family.

Jeannine graduated from BTHS West in 1975 and soon went off to basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. She was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, where she was in Procurement. She was also stationed at the Royal Air Force Base Lakenheath, in Suffolk, England and Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. Jeannine was a proud veteran of Desert Storm. After she retired from the Air Force, she returned to the States and became a nurse. Additionally, she worked with family at PearlyMae’s and Café Chaison. For an extended time she was employed with Calvin Johnson Care Center, where she worked alongside her mother, who was also a nurse. Everyone enjoyed Jeannine’s company and she was definitely the “life of the party”.

Jeannine did not have any children of her own; however, she was the best Aunt “Beans” that anyone could ask for.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her mother, Yvette Phillips; her twin sister, Pearle Phillips; her baby brother, Ronnie Phillips, and her baby sister, Beverly (Paul) Carissimo, nee Phillips; her nephew, who was more like a son, Dominique Chaison; a niece, Alexia Athmer, her nephews, Reggie Johnson and Julian Phillips; a great nephew, Jadah Johnson; and a great niece, Talayiah Anthony.

Memorials are appreciated to Siteman Cancer Center, St. Louis, Missouri. Condolences may also be expressed online at www.valhallagardensandfuneralhome.com.

Jeannine and I were in the class of 1975 at Belleville West. Unfortunately (my loss) we were not close friends, but we were in chorus together and always had a good time. Jeannine was always a very sweet young lady, and she will be greatly missed. My prayers are with Jeannine's family.

Jeannine was one of my favorite nurse's at St. Paul's, we talked and fussed fussed and talked about everything. She knew when I was having a bad day, and the same went with her. On the night shift myself and Latesha had the best nurse when Jeannine was there, because we all looked after each other. I'm going to truly miss her dearly. REST IN PARADISE JEANNINE LOVE YOU LOT'S.
