Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, John and Olivia (nee Hilpert) Tribout, and his step mom, Ruth Tribout (nee Jordan); his brother, Raymond and Jannith Tribout, and two dear grandchildren, Stephanie and Derek Tribout.
Jerry was an avid car enthusiast, a lifelong ST. Louis Cardinals’ fanatic, a lover of playing golf, traveling, camping, and exploring the great outdoors. But, above all, Jerry loved his bride and cherished time with family.
Jerry’s early career began at Tribout’s Standard station in Belleville. He went on to work as a mechanic for Firestone. Soon after he became Store Manager and opened four very successful stores for Firestone. He was awarded “Store Manager of the Year” for managing one of the best locations in the US. After he retired from Firestone, he worked as a car salesman, and delivered cars throughout the Midwest, which he also loved. HIs last job was with his son-in-law, Mel’s family construction company, where he delivered supplies to job sites. While working his full time jobs, Jerry always had a “fun job”. He worked at Cahokia and Fairmont racetracks in admissions, Kiel Auditorium, The Checkerdome and The Arena for the STL Blues. He worked as an usher for 20 plus years for the Cardinals.
Jerry spent his free time watching his children play football, baseball, basketball, soccer, dance, and cheer. Later, he never missed being on the sidelines cheering on one of his grandchildren. He was the loudest fan and the fan filled with the most pride. He drove across the country to watch his children and grandchildren participate in their events, and never missed an opportunity to brag about their accomplishments!
Everyone who met Jerry has a story to share about him. He never met a stranger. He gave his time and expertise to anyone who asked. He was an influencer way before the term was coined. He was a man who knew a little about a lot of things. He shared his knowledge with anyone who would listen.
If you have any “Jerryisms” that you would like to share, please do so with his family. There are too many to list here.
Jerry taught us well, loved unconditionally, and was an exceptional role model! He will be truly missed.
