He married his beloved wife, Joan Taylor, on May 27, 1950 in St. Louis, MO. She preceded him in death in August 10, 1996.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and proudly served his country during W.W. II. He was also a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, coaching his kids’ Little League teams, bowling, dancing and was a big sports fan. John was very proud of the fact that he built his own house.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Camillo and Consiglia D’Julia Fantini, four brothers; Dominic, Carmen, Tony and Joseph and two sisters; Mary Maurer and Maria Polsoni.
Mr. Fantini is survived by two sons, Michael (Jean) Fantini of Anacortes, WA and Anthony (Kim) Fantini of Belleville, IL; a daughter, Anne (Tony) Stranghoener of Columbia, IL; four grandchildren, TJ Fantini, Nick Fantini, LeAnn (Kris) Kitchen, and Lindsay (Blake) Gleeson; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Megan, Kendall, Wyatt, and Audrey, a very dear companion of 20 years, June Clifton as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss him dearly.

Funeral: A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated May 22nd at 10:00 a.m. Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 8707 W. Main St., Belleville, IL.
Interment will follow in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
