

John was born March 11, 1960 in Winnie, TX to Hollis and Marla (Reeves) Myers.
John proudly served his country for over 13 years in the United States Army. He married Tammie Westphal on April 16, 1984 in Lumberton, TX. They were married while he was on leave from Korea. Together, they shared 41 years of marriage. She survives and resides in Fairview Heights, IL.
Also surviving are his daughters, Cassandra Myers of Fairview Heights, IL and Katrina (Bryant) Joseph of Melbourne, FL; stepdaughter, Tylene Westphal of Arkansas; grandchildren, Emalie Wilson, Aden Canter and Carson Canter; brother, Lowell (Melissa) Myers of Silsbee, TX; and nieces and nephew, Amber, David, Rebecca and Bethany.
He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.
Throughout his time in the military, he drove Abram tanks, leading the first platoon into Desert Storm. After his discharge from the military, he went to work for the railroad with Conrail (Consolidated Rail Corporation). He continued his career working for both Hulcher Services, Inc. and R. J. Corman Railroad Services.
In more recent years, he also drove a truck for TMC and Balo.
John’s was always fiddling with his many model train boards and model trains, along with collecting many more over the years.
His loss leaves a void but his family will cherish his legacy for years to come. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family has entrusted Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home in Belleville, IL with cremation rites.
