Died on September 28, 2018 at her home in Freeburg, IL surrounded by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Taletha Gloeckler nee Germaine, her sister Carol Gloeckler Zipfel and a stillborn great-granddaughter Makayla Renee Winter.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years Jerome L. (Jerry) Winter, whom she married on April 14, 1966 in the first ever evening Mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Freeburg. They were blessed with five sons and one daughter. Darren (Celine) Winter, Manchester, MO. Kent (Donna) Winter, Carlyle, IL. Nicole (Cody) Aharonian, Playa Del Rey, CA., Jeffrey (Tracy) Winter, Pace FL., Bradley Winter and Chad Winter, Freeburg, IL. Five grandsons, Timothy Winter and Joshua Winter, MO., Kullen Winter and Devin Winter, IL., and Wesley Winter, AZ., a sister Connie (Gloeckler) Hall, Los Angeles, CA., a sister-in-law Marianne Buettner, Belleville, IL., a brother-in-law David Winter, Belleville, IL. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins from both sides of both families, and several very dear friends.
Judy spent her early married life raising her family, caring for her parents and many young children. Helping Jerry coach 2 soccer teams was a real joy. In later life she worked many years at the Belleville Wal-Mart most of which were spent as an optician in the Vision Center.
Her favorite things in life were spending time with family and friends, writing poetry, crocheting, cooking and traveling. She and Jerry were blessed to visit all but 4 of the contiguous states. Compiling many memories and pictures to share.
Judy donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine. A special service will be held to celebrate her life at a later date. Memorials may be made to MS, LUPUS or the American Cancer Society.
