Linda Jean Steiner

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Albert Downing, Robert Downing, and Gary Downing; sisters, Betty (Downing) Timmons and Norma (Downing) Prongue.

Linda is survived by husband, Kenneth D. Steiner of Belleville, Illinois, daughter, Jennifer and Cullen Bryan of Edwardsville, Illinois, son, Brian Steiner of Belleville, Illinois, her 3 precious grandchildren who were the lights of her life; Lillian, Camden, and Kason Bryan of Edwardsville, Illinois. Brother, Cecil Downing of Louisville, Kentucky, sister, Sharon (Robert) Moore of Cahokia Heights, Illinois, sister-in-law, Virginia Downing, Belleville, Illinois and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Linda had worked as a Nursing Assistant at Memorial Convalescent Center, Belleville, Illinois. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and making homemade jelly. She was the family caretaker and supported several of her family members through end of life care. She lived her life in service and love of all of those around her, always putting others before herself.

Per Linda’s wishes, rites of cremation have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Both causes were near and dear to her heart.

Visitation will take place from 4 - 7 PM on Thursday, October 7th, 2021 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois.

Memorial service will take place at 11 AM on Friday, October 8th, 2021 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois.
