

Lonnie was born May 4, 1954 in Bangor, ME to Delbert and Anna (Joyce) McDaniel. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Cindy McDaniel and brother-in-law, Duward Schwaegel.
Lonnie is survived by his wife, Jayne McDaniel of Belleville. Lonnie and Jayne were married on September 23, 1978, in Belleville, IL; they shared nearly 48 years of marriage. Together, they had two children, Sara (Aaron) Stone of Lee’s Summit, MO and Thomas (Trista) McDaniel of Branson, MO; and his beloved grandchildren, Madison & Makenzie Stone and Kohin and Trentin McDaniel. He is also survived by his sister, Liz (Ted) Harry of Belleville, IL; sister-in-law, Patricia Schwaegel of MO; and many close friends.
For many years, Lonnie worked in IT Administration and Scheduling within the banking and transportation industries, where he was respected for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.
After retirement, Lonnie devoted a large part of his life to Community Interfaith Food Pantry in Belleville. His service to others was a reflection of the kind of man Lonnie was. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He found great joy in traveling with his loving wife, Jayne, creating memories together as they explored new places and shared new adventures. He was passionate about photography and enjoyed capturing the beauty of the world through his camera lens. He also loved camping and spending time outdoors, appreciating the simple pleasures of nature.
Above all, he dearly loved his family and his grandchildren. They brought him immense happiness, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His kindness, wit, and caring nature will be remembered by all who knew and loved him and he will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026 from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. A graveside service will military honors will follow the visitation at 12:15 P.M. at Valhalla Gardens of Memory.
Memorial donations may be made to Community Interfaith Food Pantry in Belleville.
