

Sonny was instrumental in the building of the Angel of Hope at the Memorial Wall located in Bellevue Park, the Labor & Industrial Museum in Downtown Belleville. He absolutely loved sports, especially football. He served in the United States Navy and Played football in the Far East.
Sonny was a proud member of the IBEW Local 309 for 61 years. He supported his family by working as a lineman. He also, served as the Assistant Business Agent for many years, where he proved his ability to be a great negotiator. Sadly, this man who took no notes during meetings and could remember everything died of Alzheimer’s.
This is the closing chapter of this generation; Lynn Turpin is the final sibling to pass away.
Sonny was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Frances, nee Leonard, Turpin; parents, Clarence “Boss” and Alice Dee, nee Ford, Turpin; siblings, twin brother, Glenn Turpin, three sisters, Robbie Snyder, Martha(Bill ) Kinseder and Betty Portman; and great grandchild, Rebecca Leigh Hasenstab.
Surviving are his three daughters, Connie (Fiancé Glenn Mehrtens) Turpin, Cindy (James) Boivin and Cathy (Tim) Hasenstab, all of Belleville, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael Aasen, Katie Aasen, Brianne (Chris) Jakes, Melissa (Matt) Schmitt, Jenna Boivin, Joshua Boivin, Megan Boivin, Lauren (travis) Rompel, Alli (Joel) Esker and David Hasenstab; seven great grandchildren; sisters in laws, Tommie Turpin of Bassett Arkansas and Louise (George) Phillyaw of Wesson, Mississippi; borther in laws, Bill Portman of Orlando, Florida and Charles Snyder of Truman, Arkansas; and many many nieces and nephews.
