

Mary Zeller (nee Casey), 96, of Albers, IL formerly of Bloomington, IN passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2014 at Clinton Manor in New Baden, IL. Born September 27, 1917 in Wilton, KY, she was the daughter of Charles and Julie (nee Hubbs) Casey and graduated from Berea College in Berea, KY with a dietary degree. Mary served her dietary internship at Walter Reed Army Hospital. She attained the rank of Lieutenant in the US Army during World War II serving at Camp Foxlet in Hereford, England from 1943 to 1944 and at the US Army Hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany from 1945 to 1946. Mary retired as a civil service employee at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, M.A.D.D, the Humane Association, Protect Our Woods, and the Bloomington, IN V. F. W. and American Legion Posts. Mary was an avid gardener and bird watcher as well as being a world traveler.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul Joseph Zeller in 1999; four brothers, William, Walter, Hoyt, and Cager Casey; and a sister, Azalea Rains.
She is survived by her son, Joseph H. (Jan) Zeller of Albers, IL; grandchildren, Martin Joseph (Kelly) Zeller of Highland, IL and Tamara Jo (Todd) Macke of Trenton, IL; four great grandchildren, Jacob and Alison Zeller and Trey and Cole Macke; one niece; and two nephews.
Per Mary’s wishes, no public services will be held. Private interment at Lee Cemetery in Knox County, KY.
