

Red was born July 12, 1940 in Proctor, VT to his mother, Ellen Morgan. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Donnie Porter and Robert Sawyer; and son-in-law, Michael Anderson.
Red married Sharron Talbot on August 9, 1962 in Laconia, NH and together they shared nearly 64 years of marriage. Sharron survives and resides in O’Fallon, IL.
Also surviving are their two daughters, Robin Anderson and Kellie (David) Pasterski, all of Belleville, IL; grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Neuman of St. Robert, MO, Christopher (Theresa) Mathis of Fairview Heights, IL, Brandon Neuman of St. Robert, MO, Corey (Sierra) Pasterski of Bethalto, IL, and Brenden (Eme) Pasterski of Metropolis, IL; great-grandchildren, Eloise, Cameron, Paxton, Embrie, Rayleigh, Miles, Scarlett, Emma, and baby Ryan, due to arrive in August; and his one sister, Judy.
The family would like to also extend a heartfelt thank you to Red’s caregivers, Eme, Angie, Lacee and Chrissy, who took care of him with the utmost care and compassion. Their dedication and love for the Sawyer family did not go unnoticed and will forever be cherished.
Red proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, enlisting on March 7, 1963 and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant on October 1, 1992.
Red enjoyed traveling over the years with his wife, Sharron, creating wonderful memories together along the way. They also enjoyed spending time at the gambling boats, testing their luck and sharing many fun adventures together.
In his younger years, Red loved fishing and spending time outdoors. He was known for his great sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh wherever he went. His warm smile, quick wit, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family has entrusted Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home in Belleville, IL with cremation rites.
