Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force, spending four years active duty and an additional 10 years in the Air Force & Army Reserves. During his time in the military, Bob served as a medic in Vietnam, a chapter of his life that reflected his courage, dedication, and willingness to serve others.
Following his military service, Bob continued a career dedicated to protecting and helping others. He served with the St. Louis Fire Department and later with police departments in both St. Louis and Illinois. Bob worked in security management for Pfizer and Monsanto in St. Louis. After a long and distinguished career of service, he retired in 2009.
Outside of his work and service, Bob found joy in the simple things in life. He had an incredible love for animals, especially dogs, and never met a dog he didn’t love. He enjoyed trying new restaurants and going out to eat, always ready to discover a new favorite meal. Bob also had quite the sweet tooth, with delicious jelly-filled donuts always being his top choice.
Years ago, some of Bob’s fondest memories were made camping with his wife, Terry. Those family adventures created memories that would be treasured for years to come.
Bob and Terry were members of St. Mary’s and Cathedral of St. Peter Catholic Church in Belleville. More recently, they attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Smithton. Bob was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, an organization through which he continued his commitment to faith, fellowship, and service.
Above all else, Bob was devoted to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, service, and countless memories that will remain with those who knew him. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, who held a very special place in his heart.
Bob will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
