She was a telephone operator before marriage. She married Virgil on April 16, 1944. After living a short time in New Orleans while Virgil was in the service, they lived in Belleville and were married for 72 years. Rose was a homemaker and loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Rose and Virgil were long time members of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
Rose enjoyed working with flowers and crafts. She made beautiful arrangements and wreaths.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband Virgil Saul; parents Anna (nee Lidisky) and Anthony Swacil; two brothers, Jerome and William; a sister, Mildred, in infancy; and a granddaughter, Alana Marie Lashley.
Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Barbara (Edward) Carrico, Kimberly Saul; a son, Mark V. Saul; a granddaughter, Debra Ann Aaron; two great grandchildren, Dayna Marie Chastain and Derek Thomas Siems; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Belleville, IL or The Belleville Humane Society.
Visitation will take place at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 12 noon to 2 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm with interment to follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory.
