
Russell was retired from Sears in East St. Louis, Illinois and CPI Corp in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Roland was a World War II veteran who received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Combat Infantry badge. Russell was also a prisoner of war. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Disabled American Veterans. He was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church, Belleville, Illinois and current member of Our Lord’s Lutheran, Maryville, Illinois
Russell is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Louise, nee Nebhuth, Roland.
Surviving is his loving wife, Norma, nee Reed, Roland; daughter, Judith Brombolich, Maryville, Illinois; son, Roy A. Roland, Vincennes, Indiana; grandchildren, Rebecca Brombolich, Edwardsville, Illinois, Alison, Romanik, Collinsville, Illinois, Kim (Dennis) Thebeau, Collinsville, Illinois, Eugene “Rusty” (Cheryl) Brombolich, Collinsville, and several great grandchildren.
Memorials in Russell’s memory may be made to Our Lord’s Lutheran Church, Maryville, Illinois or Faith in Action of Collinsville
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 11:00am Meridian Village Chapel, 27 Auerbach Place, Glen Carbon, Illinois
Per Mr. Roland’s wishes his body was gifted to St. Louis University School of Medicine.
