

Sam was a caretaker at Specialized Living in Swansea and also worked at Jessica’s Laundry Center in Belleville. In addition to holding two jobs, she was also a full-time student at SWIC. Her real passion was roller derby! Known here as “Slam Van Diesel”, she was a Blocker for the Confluence Crush Roller Derby and proudly wore the number “1988”.
She is survived by two sons, Jay Miller, age 8 and 3 year old Brantly Miller; and a daughter Haily Miller who is 6; and their father, Joshua Miller; her parents, Barry and Michelle, nee Shipley, Monroe; 2 brothers, Miles Monroe of Swansea, IL and Justin Monroe of Fairview Heights, IL; 2 sisters, Zoe Monroe and Jodie Monroe, both of Fairview Heights, IL. Sam is also survived by grandparents, a great-grandmother, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Her interment will be private, at her family’s request in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
