

Susan was born July 16, 1942, in Belleville, IL to Fredrick and Kathryn (Wangelin) Lutz. She married her high school sweetheart, Jon Denis Symer, in 1963; he preceded her in death on January 4, 2022. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Susan is survived by her two daughters, Wendy Symer (Dave Huelsmann) of Lebanon, IL and Jill Quaid of Lebanon, MO; grandson, Jeffery Denis Linder of Lebanon, IL; siblings, Jeff (Diane) Lutz of Belleville, IL and Debbie (Ray) Boller of Chicago, IL; cousin-in-law, Faye Ann Codemo of Godfrey, IL; as well as niece and nephew and their children, Katha (Trevor) Wilson and Justin (Jeana) Boller of Chicago, IL.
Susan was a 1960 graduate of Lebanon High School, where she was crowned Prom Queen her senior year. She worked as a homemaker throughout her life, devoted to her family, and owned a giftshop, Legendary Creations, in Lebanon for nearly 10 years. Together, she and Denny also owned and operated Legendary Morgan Farm in Lebanon, IL producing regional and world champion Morgan Horses since 1970 and champion Boxers since 2005. They were founding members of the Mississippi Valley Morgan Horse Club. They helped organize the annual Jubilee Regional Championship Morgan Horse Show in Springfield, IL, organized the annual Victorian Holiday Celebration and helped organize the annual Witches Night Out Event, all in Lebanon. She loved her animals and her community dearly and cherished the friendships they brought her throughout the years. She will be truly missed.
A private family service will be held in future at Valhalla-Gaerdner-Holton Funeral Home in Belleville, IL. Final interment will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Hospice of Southern Illinois, for their loving care and compassion shown to Susan in recent weeks.
