Tommie Jo Kamenec, nee Ross, 91, of Belleville, Illinois, born June 30,1929, in DeLeon, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 15,2021, in Swansea, Illinois.
Tommie, affectionately known as Lady then Gramlady was a homemaker who also became a member of PSOP to serve as a crochet instructor. She also crocheted baby blankets and stuffed animals for Linus Blankets of Southwest Illinois. She attended Edgemont Bible Church then Faith Bible church and enjoyed working in the nursery, playing piano and teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed a full time of baby sitting her grandchildren and others, planting flowers, her dogs,watching and feeding birds and countless other fun activities. She was very giving, an excellent mother and a true lady up until the very end of life despite the disease of Alzheimer's.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Kamenec, 59 years married; a great granddaughter in infancy, Anastasia Sophia; her parents, Willie Joe and Bernice Aline, nee Farmer, Ross; a brother James Ollie; and a sister, Delia Beth Kelley.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Judy Poletti, of Belleville, Illinois, John Kamenec, of Waco, Texas; and Brad (Mary) Kamenec, of Belleville, Illinois; her grandchildren Ross (Nicole) Poletti and Bailey (Stephanie) Poletti;her great grandchildren, Bella, Roman and Maggie plus some friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois.
Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the funeral home with Rev. Royal Boeder officiating. Interment will follow in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
