Born November 2, 1939 in Portland, Oregon to parents Alexander and Irene Milne, “Scott” was the 5th Alexander Scott Milne in a long line of Scottish descendants bearing the same name. His childhood and school years were spent in Portland, Medford, and Ashland. After graduating from Ashland High School in 1957, Scott moved to The Dalles, Oregon to find work and be close to family before joining the Navy in 1959.
Scott’s experience in the Navy played a very important role in his life. He met the love of his life, Beverly (Bev) Agnes Bissell, while working in Washington, D.C. They married in 1964, had two children and travelled the world together.
During his 26-year career in the Navy, he was stationed on various ships including destroyers and nuclear fast attack submarines throughout the U.S. and Europe. A portion of his Navy career was spent on shore-duty in Belgium and Bellevue, WA. In between patrols and transfers Scott, following in his dad’s footsteps, also became a Mason.
Scott retired from the Navy in 1983 with rank of Yeoman Chief Petty Officer First Class. After the Navy, Scott worked for Seattle City Light and eventually retired a second time to play golf, travel with Beverly and help raise his grandchildren, Anna and Alex.
Scott & Bev were married for 55 years till Beverly’s passing in 2019. Scott’s passions, other than his wife, included: family, riding his horse (as a teen), bowling, golf, dancing, working in the yard, reading westerns, watching westerns, politics, making blueberry pancakes for his grandchildren, eating a steak and enjoying tasty adult beverages.
Scott was deeply devoted to his family and always willing to offer help whenever and wherever a friend or family member needed it. Scott will be remembered by many that knew him for his standard phrase, “Get in a jam; give me a call.”
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Scott Milne and Irene Milne, his sister Jane and his loving wife of 55 years, Beverly. Scott is survived by his son Scott Milne (Shelley), daughter Trisha Hubbard (Mark), granddaughters Anna and Lauren, grandson Alex, great granddaughter Skyla and his dog Sailor.
A celebration and remembrance of Scott's life will be held on Tuesday, September 13th at 10:00 am at Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Bellevue, Washington. Scott will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery with military honors.
