

Born on January 11, 1935, in Shanghai, China. Her family moved to Hong Kong in 1950, where she finished her high school. In 1958, Alice ventured to the United States, where she pursued higher education at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, earning a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology.
Alice dedicated her early career to healthcare, working at St. Paul Hospital until 1967. It was during this time, in 1965, that she married the love of her life, Dr. Shu Tung Chu. In 1967, Alice and Shu Tung moved to Brookings, South Dakota. Alice transitioned her career in 1973, joining the 3M company, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 2000.
After retiring, Alice devoted much of her time to giving back to the community. She volunteered at local elementary schools, where she delighted students by telling stories, fostering a love of learning and imagination in the hearts of young minds. She also continued to explore her love for travel, journeying to various destinations with friends and creating cherished memories. In 2016, Alice and Shu Tung made their final move, settling in Seattle, Washington, where they continued to enjoy their life together.
Alice will be remembered for her quiet strength, her unwavering dedication to her family, and her remarkable career journey. Her warmth, wisdom, and gentle humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Shu Tung Chu. Alice was a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews, maintaining strong bonds with her family throughout her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Alice’s name to the charity "Save the Children" or the charity of your choice.
