Alice was born in Washington DC and raised in Kensington MD. She graduated George Washington University, Washington DC, with a BA in Education and Social Studies in 1940.
Alice met Earle Willis Jennings II at an USO dance in Washington DC during World War II, and they were wed on April 25, 1945 at the National Cathedral after he completed his overseas assignments. Alice and Earle moved to Denver CO after the war, then to Bozeman and Great Falls, MT, and joined Earle’s family in the Seattle in 1961 where they raised their family in Bellevue.
Alice taught high school in Montgomery County Maryland 1940-42 and worked for the Federal government from 1942-45. While living in Great Falls, Montana, Alice published an air force base newspaper and upon moving to Seattle in 1961 began a bookkeeping business which she continued until 2009. She was a life-long Episcopalian and member of the Church of the Resurrection in Bellevue. Alice served repeatedly on the church’s Bishop’s Committee and was Treasurer from the 1960s to the early 2000s.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Albert E. Miller and Martha E. M. Miller and siblings Paul M. Miller and Helen M. Miller. She is survived by her children Earle W. Jennings (Heather), Paul N. Jennings, Joseph W. Jennings (Marisa), and Martha Alice Jennings Walp (Wilson), grandchildren Laura Tubbs, Carla Walp, Jeremy Jennings (Lauren), Benjamin Jennings, Margaret Jennings, Sophia Jennings, and great-grandson Caelon Jennings. She is also survived by Jill Patton and Linda Wyatt, her “other” daughters, who brought her great joy and friendship for many years.
Alice treasured her surviving in-laws, Harold and Mary Frances Hill and Betty Dunn, and her nieces and nephews, Mary Jane Seebach, Michael Miller, Kathy Dunn, Thomas Dunn, Betsy Richman-Dunn, Bill Dunn, John Hill, and Stephen Hill and their children.
The family expresses their thanks for the wonderful help and care given by the Kindred at Home Hospice team and the caregivers and medical staff at Overlake Terrace Retirement Community.
