On October 31st, Ann Rychlik passed away at 101 years of age. She was born Anna Mary Hennagir in Spokane, WA. on April 27th, 1922 to Stephen and Lovina Hennagir. She was one of eight children.
As a child of The Depression, she moved frequently as her parents looked for work. She grew up in Seattle on First Hill – where Seattle University currently sits. She was a city girl at heart and loved living in downtown Seattle. She was a hard worker, who took on various jobs.
In 1948, she met Johnny Rychlik on a ride from San Francisco to Seattle. It was true love and they married soon after that initial meeting. She left the city she loved so much for the suburbs and moved across the lake, eventually settling down in the Highlands neighborhood of Kirkland where she remained. At Johnny’s suggestion she started working for Sears, where she stayed for many years. As she loved being in Sales, they parlayed this, with their love of movies, into opening Rose Hill Video in Kirkland.
Ann will be remembered for her love of music, dancing, reading, movies and visiting with family. She had a wicked sense of humor, was kind, forgiving and generous to a fault. No doubt the key to her longevity is Diet Pepsi, continuous curiosity and living each day by the motto: “tomorrow is promised to no one” as quoted by Clint Eastwood.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Johnny, son Don (Salli) and daughter Janeen. She is survived by son John (Ann) and daughter Roseanne (Randy), 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue on Thursday, Nov 9, 2023, at 1:00, with a reception to follow at the home of Roseanne and Randy Hoxie. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in Ann's name.
