Born in 1943, Beverly grew up in Biddeford, Maine. She was always a social butterfly involved in a variety of activities including basketball, ice skating, school government, cheerleading, dancing, and just about anything social. Beverly spent her summers on Kennebunk Pond at the family camp and returned annually to visit family and friends after moving to Washington D.C. at the age of 19 to pursue a career in Washington D.C. with the U.S. Department of the Navy. It is there she met Scott Milne, her husband of 55 years. Together, Bev and Scott raised two children, Trisha and Scott Jr. traveling around the world wherever Scott’s Navy career took them – from Hawaii to Europe and everywhere in-between before settling down in Bellevue, Washington in 1978.
Bev’s effervescent personality, bright smile, and infectious laugh lit up any room she entered. She made friends anywhere they lived or traveled throughout the world and was known by all for her generous, warm, welcoming spirit… and for her amazing homemade banana bread and almond poppyseed bread that she made frequently for family, friends, and neighbors. She was an excellent cook who could throw a dinner party together for the family or a big group, making everything beautiful, delicious, and seemingly effortless. Entertaining friends and family at parties with oldies songs that she learned from her mother Alice was just one of the many talents that endeared her to all. Besides spending time with precious family and friends, dancing with her husband Scott was one of Bev’s favorite pastimes, always smiling, laughing, and whooping it up on the dance floor.
Beverly loved her family with all her heart. She enjoyed weekly family dinners, birthday and holiday family gatherings and was the primary connector within the family. Not only was she an amazing mother, but also an incredible grandmother and mother-in-law too. Grandma Bev loved spending time with her grandchildren teaching them how to make banana bread and other tasty treats. She was genuinely interested in her grandchildren, their schooling and all their sports activities and performances.
Despite having battled cancer three times, Bev’s enduring positive attitude could not be dampened. Just two days before her body finally gave up the fight, she whispered to visiting family members, “I’m so happy!” While cancer may have won the final battle in this lifetime, she is undoubtedly the life of the party in Heaven. Beverly leaves behind a beautiful legacy of cherished memories and eternal love that will never be extinguished.
At only 75 years young, Beverly Bissell Milne passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at home in Bellevue, Washington on Sunday, May 5th. Preceded in death by her parents, Walter K. Bissell and Alice Ball, Bev is survived by her husband Scott, daughter Trisha Hubbard (Mark), son Scott Milne (Shelley), granddaughters Anna and Lauren, grandson Alex, brother Ken (Kathleen), and sister Lisa. A celebration and remembrance of Beverly’s life will be held on Thursday June 6th, 2019 at 3 p.m. located at Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Bellevue, Washington.
