In loving memory of Bor Yui Chan, 80, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of our family. Arriving in the U.S. at age 19 with his mother, Sheung Chan and two brothers Jim and Nathan, he built a life rooted in hard work beginning in various restaurants in Seattle's Chinatown-International District. In 1978, he returned to Hong Kong to marry the love of his life, Sheena, which would span 48 years.
Together, they officially made their home in the U.S. in 1979, laying deep roots in the Pacific Northwest. After starting their family in Rainier Beach, they settled in the Fairwood/Renton area in 1989 to raise their four children. Through decades of restaurant ventures including Proud Bird and finally Wah Luck which he was able to call his own, he provided a warm, stable foundation for those he loved. Outside of his work, he delighted in spending quiet moments with family and watching his grandchildren grow.
Bor peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sheena; his children, Alvin, Florence (Davis), Heidi (David), and Lesley (Michael); as well as cherished by his grandchildren, Alex, Brandon, Connor, Emmett, Elsie, and Loumi. His quiet strength, unwavering support, and enduring love will live on in our hearts forever.
