Cathy grew up in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1963. Cathy married James S. Keppler in 1964, and they lived shortly on Capitol Hill before Jim entered the Air Force. Their time in the service took them all over the Midwest before being stationed in Wichita, Kansas. It was here that both of their sons were born.
In 1970, the family of four returned home to the Seattle area for good. Cathy focused upon building their first family home in Bothell, and was heavily involved with the Northshore School District and the boys’ education. In 1978, the family moved to Monroe and again Cathy was influential in the local school’s administration and operation. In 1983, Cathy opened the first of their retail businesses selling playground equipment. In 1994, after selling the swing set store, Cathy purchased the 91 year old local family jewelry store. With her love of jewelry and her artistic nature expressed in her designs, she developed an international following for herself and her creations. With her innate desire to take care of other people and her intuitive sense of knowing how to make any moment unique, Cathy and the business enjoyed great success.
Cathy loved nothing more than hosting elaborate parties at the family home and at the jewelry store. From out of town guests to a simple lunch for two, Cathy loved just spending time with friends and family. Throughout her life, Cathy’s focus was in the service of others: Bringing joy to people’s lives in so many ways was her greatest accomplishment.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jim, her two sons, Kirk and Dean, and her grandsons, Wyatt and Evan.
There will be a Memorial Service on Friday May 31st at 11:00am at Sunset Hills, 1215 145th Place S.E. Bellevue, WA 98007
