Chai Ying Ng, 99, of Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026. Born on July 5, 1926, in Toishan, China, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a guiding light of honor and integrity to an extended family. Chai married her husband Niu On Ng in 1946, and their marriage would span over six decades. Chai and her family first moved to Hong Kong in 1955, and in 1966, they immigrated to the United States, eventually making Seattle their home. With nothing more than a second-grade education, she provided and cared for her family for nearly 60 years, working long hours as a seamstress. Her hard work and sacrifice were not in vain - her children would become successful accountants, engineers, scientists, and attorneys, and her grandchildren would become doctors, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, business professionals, and educators.
Chai was a gentle, kind, loving, and generous soul. Her home was always open, warm, and brimming with happiness. Nothing brought her more joy than seeing her family. She was incredibly proud of her legacy, often noting how smart, handsome, and beautiful her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were.
Chai is survived by her sons Kim Man Ng (Diana) and Chun Man Ng (Angela); her daughters Yue Fong Lam and Lai Fong Chin (Ronnie) and daughter-in-law Catherine Ng; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is welcomed into eternal rest by her husband Niu On Ng; her eldest son Hap Man Ng; and son Chung Man Ng. Her stewardship as the matriarch of the family will live on in the hearts and souls of all who loved her.
