Chaleia Morae Gill

December 17, 1982August 14, 2012

Chaleia Morae Gill was born in Seattle, Washington on Friday, December 17, 1982 to Jim and Sherry Gill. She peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Chaleia was raised in Bellevue, Washington and attended Eastgate Elementary School, Tillicum Middle School and Bellevue High School. Chaleia graduated with honors from Bellevue High School in 2001. Following high school, she attended the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. While earning her degree, she joined a fraternal organization, Alpha Xi Delta where she created a plethora of lifelong friendships. She later joined several professional organizations including the American Nurses Association, the Washington State Nurses Association and the Association of peri-Operative Registered Nurses. In addition, to further her professional goals, while in school, she worked at the University of Washington Medical Center. If you converse with one of her friends today, they will probably mention her feisty can-do attitude, her zeal to encourage them to strive to achieve their goals in life, and the importance of the strong loving family bond she enjoyed. Ask how many times they heard her say, “my _____ (mother, sister, brother, dad, or other relative) can get on my last nerve, but I still love her/him.” Subsequent to her studies, she went to work as an operating room nurse at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. She worked there for nearly five years, prior to pursuing a career in medical examination and pathology. She participated in an accelerated program at the University of California, CSI Academy where she graduated with an A+. Her professor disclosed that she was the only student, in the history of the program to receive an A+. She leaves to cherish her endearing legacy, her devoted parents, Jim and Sherry Gill, and her two siblings, Kiara and Dane Gill. Additionally, her loving Grandparents Tarlene and Raymond Wright Sr., her Uncle Ray Wright Jr. (Janice), Grandmother Mary Rogers, Grandmother Claudia Mitchell and a host of loving cousins, friends and other relatives. She is also survived by her adoring dog, Khoda Oliver Gill, who was the love of her life. To share memories of Chaleia, please sign the online guest register at www.sunsethillsfuneralhome.com

I am SO sad to hear of your family's loss. I just learned of her passing when I got Nu News and my heart sank! Chaleia brought me SO much joy and happiness when she joined Alpha Xi Delta. I have many great memories with her and Kiara too! She was always SO witty, fun, happy, and positive! Your family will be in our family's thoughts and prayers.

Our youngest granddaughter Chaleia have been one of the loves and joy's in our life, her quick wit, frankness and knowledge has amazed us since she was a little girl up until her death. For instance when her PaPa was going to retire she wanted to know if we would still be able to give them each $50.00 as we had always done at Christmas, or not. She has always been very direct.
Chaleia's PaPa's favorite memory of her is telling him PaPa Pick Me Up, Pick Me Up! when she was a little girl.
Chaleia cared for the well being of all of her family members and friends, we called her our Health Care Adviser, because she took charge when we needed her help or advise.
The Academic Achievements she acquired during her short time on this earth have given us many proud and happy times.
Chaleia's last written communications to me was on a Mothers Day Card this past May, she thanked me for encouraging her to alway stand up for her convictions and to be proud of The Strong Black Woman she was, and she was Proud To Be Her Grand Mothers Child!
There are so many happy times to remember our wonderful granddaughter Chaleia Morae Gill, and she will never be forgotten.

Chaleia was truly a gift from GOD. In her short time here on earth she touched many lifes & the world is a better place because Chaleia was here. She did more in her 29 years of life than most people do in a life time. As a parent it does bring comfort to think about the good old days when life was simple. When Chaleia graduation from college and started her journey of help healing others. That was her lifes purpose. She loved working at Virginia Mason Hospital in the Operating Room and all of the many special people who embraced her during that time. But Chaleia also wanted more, she always had her eye on the Dream of wanting to work in the Medical Examiners Office, so it was off to the University of California, Riverside to make that dream happen. After completeing the program with honors Chaleia arrived home on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 9:00 p.m. happy to be home with her family and her puppy, KHODA. Life was perfect, she was on here way to start her new journey of working in the King County Medical Examiners Office. She spent the night at our house on Saturday and then left Sunday evening for her home. That was the last time we saw Chaleia. When she left our house she was very, very, very happy & full of life but GOD wanted a "New Angel" so he came for Chaleia early on the morning on August 14, 2012. Chaleia Is Now With GOD Wearing Her Angel Wings And Looking Out For All of Her Loved Ones from Above. Until We Meet Again, We Love You Very, Very Much Chaleia & We Will Meet Again, Mom, Daddy, Kiara, Dane & Khoda aka "The Gill Family"

No words can express the sadness at the passing of one so young and full of promise for a bright and lasting future.
She always had a smile and time for a chat whenever I saw her. Rest in eternal peace Chaleia.

To lose a beloved child has to to be the worst thing to have happen. Please find comfort knowing that she is with our Lord Jesus Christ. And that once again someday you and she will be hugging, laughing and singing together in heaven.

I used to think Chaleia was a little crazy because she thought Disneyworld was the best vacation ever and her family went there together all the time. I get it now Chaleia ... you had better insight than I on what was really important. I thought of you when I took my family for the first time and realized how family moments like those are the ones you love to remember and go back too. I'll always remember of you whenever I see Mickey ... thank you for being my friend. To the Gill family, although I cannot imagine to know the pain of your loss, I offer my sympathies. Her smile was contagious and I'm glad she was a part of my life and will continue to be so.
