

Charlotte W. Matsen of Bellevue, WA passed away on May 2, 2012 at the age of 85. She was born in Nanticoke, Maryland to Everett and Mabel White on July 11, 1926. Charlotte was a teacher early in her life, but later her focus changed to being a homemaker to her family. She was an active longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Bellevue and held many other volunteer and board positions in organizations such as Wellspring Family Services, League of Women Voters, Wesley Homes in Des Moines, WA, Northwest Danish Association of WA and OR, and Windsor House Condo Association in Bellevue. She is best remembered, however, as a loving wife and a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Charlotte is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Joseph R. Matsen; 2 children, Jay D.(Katherine) Matsen and Ellen R.M. (Tim) Boyer; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters; Martha Barth and Georgia Mandich and is preceded in death by her sister, Madelyn Williams. A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Bellevue on May 11 at 3:00 p.m. In remembrance, memorial donations may be made to the Endowment Fund at First United Methodist Church of Bellevue.
