Mrs. Garland was born on June 8, 1930 in Harveyville, Kansas to Delos and Minnie Taylor.
Corinne graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelors’ Degree and a Masters’ Degree from Cheyney University.
Corinne worked many years for the Penn Delco School District in Delaware County, Pennsylvania before she retired. Corinne started her career in the school district as an art teacher and finished her career as an Art Coordinator.
Corinne was an accomplished watercolor artist and carver and was selected to participate in juried art shows in Pennsylvania. In addition to watercolor painting and carving, Corinne was also an avid gardener. After her retirement, Corinne enjoyed travel and spending time with her friends, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Corinne was an active member of the Cornerstone Church in Covington, Washington for many years.
Corinne is survived by her partner Jerry Roux of Auburn, Washington, her son Peter (Wendy) Byar of Willingboro, New Jersey, her son Alan (Ann) Byar of Issaquah, Washington, a stepson Steve Garland, her younger brother Steve (Nancy) Taylor of Wichita, Kansas, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of close friends in Covington, Washington including Wendy Drexler, Karen Dare, Teri Johnson and Linda Rice.
Corinne is preceded in death by her father and mother, Delos and Minnie Taylor, and her husband of 35 years, Robert O. Garland.
A virtual memorial service to celebrate Corinne’s life was held on Sunday, May 16 at Cornerstone Church in Covington. A private burial service was held at the Tahoma National Cemetery on May 19.
