D. Bruce Danielson (July 10, 1964 - January 4, 2014) was born in Bellevue, Washington to Eugene and Kiyo Danielson, and lived his entire life in the Rose Hill/Totem Lake area of Kirkland, Washington. His education began at Mark Twain Elementary, and he graduated from Lake Washington High School in 1982. After graduation, he attended Washington State University, and was a lifelong Cougar fan. Bruce was a Technical Writer at Boeing Aerospace for almost 25 years. His office was in Renton, and he was thankful to usually be able to work from home.
He loved science fiction, and was a fan since childhood. He enjoyed a diverse genre of music, sailing, Cirque du Soleil, and traveling - especially to the Caribbean. He was fond of animals and always had a dog in his care. Bruce was guarded and a very private person, so it took a bit of time for some to get to know him. He was fortunate to have had some caring people in his inner circle.
In 2003 he developed pancreatitis and fell into a diabetic coma. His body never really recovered from that. On December 30, 2013, he became dizzy and his sister called an ambulance to take him to Evergreen Health Medical Center. He had congestive heart failure, labored breathing, influenza, and was heavily sedated during his entire stay. After several days, he was beginning to improve, but on Saturday evening, his influenza - in conjunction with his heart and imbalanced electrolytes - resulted in a heart attack. Within one hour he was gone.
Bruce is predeceased by his father Eugene A. Danielson. He is survived by his mother, Kiyo (Kimi) Danielson; his sister Margaret Danielson and her spouse S. Burnham; his aunt and uncle Mitsuko and Douglas Kendall; his cousins Lisa Kendall, Peter Kendall and their families; his aunt Maxine Rhodes and her family; extended family in Okinawa; and longtime friends.
Bruce’s service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Sunset Hills Funeral Home at 1215 145th Place Southeast in Bellevue, WA 98007.
