

Diane was born the third of three children to Don and Kathy Sullivan. She was raised in Lake Hills, attended Lake Hills Elementary School, St. Louise Catholic School, Odle Middle School, and graduated from Sammamish High School. She went on to Eastern Washington University where she graduated with a degree in communications. After graduation she married Randy Rains who joined the Air Force, and over the next decade the two were stationed in several locations, among them Hawaii and Germany. Diane enjoyed traveling and even worked for a travel agency for a time. Her parents were able to vacation with her while she lived in Europe and Hawaii.
While growing up, Diane spent many summers on Whidbey Island at her grandparents’ cabin at Lagoon Point. Diane enjoyed walking the beach, looking for crabs under rocks, and bullhead fishing. The cabin at Whidbey became a wonderful gathering place for many friends and family over the years.
Diane was blessed to have several life-long friends, among them, Lisa (Martin) Wood and Laurie Ann Wilbert. In later years she developed wonderful friendships with neighbors in her condominium complex. They looked after each other and relied on one another frequently. She enjoyed shopping and going to movies, Downton Abbey films being one of her favorites.
For the last few years Diane worked in Bellevue at Hopelink, a job she enjoyed. Diane will be missed by many friends and family.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Kathleen Sullivan. She leaves behind her brother Michael Sullivan, sister Patty Shelton, brother-in-law David Shelton, nephew Dane Shelton, nieces LeeAnne Anderson and Alyssa Shelton, and grandnephews Lucas and Hudson Bertrand and Owen Shelton.
