

He was preceded in death by Mary Carlyle, his beloved wife of seventy-two years. They raised two children and enjoyed their grandchildren.
Donald Carlyle graduated from Renton High School and began studying engineering at the University of Washington. But like many of what has been called the greatest generation, duty called.
He began serving in the United States Army. After a medical aptitude test, he was sent to pre-med. When World War Two ended, he transferred his studies to the United States Public Health Service where he received further training and graduated from the University of California at San Francisco, School of Medicine. With further studies, he specialized in radiology.
After serving many years, he retired as a Captain of the United States Public Health Service. He then went into private practice as a radiologist in Seattle, Washington and later at Western Clinic in Tacoma, Washington. He finally retired from medical practice.
Another one of his interests was flying. He also became a licensed private pilot.
Donald Carlyle was a Christian believer and served as an Elder and in the Choir at the First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma. He served similarly at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, especially in the choir, for decades.
