Emma was born on June 16, 1924, one of 8 children born to Sam Choi Eng and Ho Toy. She grew up in Seattle, WA and graduated from Garfield High School in 1942. She was a devoted wife to the love of her life, Albert K. H. Eng, whose death preceded hers in 1999. Also, preceding her passing was her wonderful son, Guy Eng; and siblings, Pauline Ko, Mary Jane Mar, Russell Eng and Roger Eng.
Emma is survived by three of her four children, Chris Eng (Linda), Allison Eng Meany (John) and Barbara Gilardo (Don); grand-children, Dylan Eng (Mara), Kevin Eng (Kelly), Stacie Eng, Briana Meany and Janelle Gilardo; great-grandchildren Brittney Eng-Croft (Brandon), Kylie Eng and Renzo Eng; great-great grandchild, Kennedy Croft; siblings, Daisy Mar, Alice King and Sam Eng Jr.; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.
During WWII, Emma volunteered her time to aiding in aircraft movement from land at various locations. Later, she became a member of the Seattle Jade Guild, was a fantastic cook, talented seamstress and an outstanding homemaker and grandmother. Her greatest joy came from the love of her family. She was the most selfless, generous and caring soul. She will be forever missed by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held later this year. If you wish, donations may be made in memory of Emma Choi Eng to the Seattle Chinese Garden at 6000 16th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98106 or a charity of your choice.
