

Gayle Raymond PERRY July 31, 1922 ~ January 25, 2012 Gayle was born to Earl and Arletta Perry on July 31, 1922 in Fruita, Colorado. The family moved to Grand Junction and then settled in Selah, Washington for many years until finally moving to Yakima. In 1943 Gayle married the love of his life, Fairy Warnke. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1946 and was trained as an airplane mechanic, and spent time serving in the Philippines. They settled on Mercer Island in 1949 where they skillfully built their home themselves. He found great joy in maintaining their home, and worked hard to always have a perfect yard. The amazing view of the lake and mountains was a continual source of inspiration for him. Gayle worked for Boeing as a supervisor until starting his own business in 1960. He was enthusiastic about his real estate investments and took pride in being kind and generous with his tenants. Always working hard and planning ahead came naturally to him. Gayle was never still a moment and had numerous hobbies. He started collecting stamps when he was six years old and loved sharing his extensive collection with friends and family. Photography was another passion of his and he spent many hours in his dark room experimenting to make each picture perfect. He was a member of Bellevue Camera Club and won numerous awards for his work. He was also a long time member of the Mercer Island Kiwanis and spent many volunteer hours serving his community. Gayle and Fairy loved traveling, and built wonderful memories touring in their motorhome with friends and family, and most importantly, their grandchildren. They also made many friends on the island while taking their daily walk of 3-5 miles. The Perry's moved to Covenant Shores on Mercer Island in 2005, and Gayle was preceded in death by his beloved Fairy in August of 2010. They had been married for an incredible 67 years. His brothers, Lowell and Delton also passed before him. Gayle will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Sharon Boudreau (Ken) of Maui and Denise Hodge (Phil) of Newcastle, as well as by his sister Dorothy Justice (George) of Soap Lake. He was especially proud of all of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. They are: Tim Freeman (Elizabeth) of Wenatchee, Jeffrey Freeman (Angie) of Renton, Heather Huntoon (Dave) of Spokane and Stacy Bott of Bellevue. Step grandchildren, Corey Boudreau of North Carolina, Shane Boudreau of Sammamish, Carly Boudreau (Ryan Brown) of Kirkland, Emily Nudelman (Aaron) of Denmark and Alex Hodge (Tuli) of Seattle. His great-grandchildren, Kelly John Fisher, Katie and Jamie Freeman, Ellie and Perry Huntoon, Tanner Boudreau, Mackenzie Brown, Ethan, Addison Nudelman and Brittney Ford. There will be a memorial service in his honor at Covenant Shores Fellowship Hall on February 4, 2012 at 2:00 PM.
