

Born December 28th, 1923 in Topeka Kansas and died early Monday morning September 20, 2010. Finishing high school early he was drafted into the US Army in March of 1943. After 6 months of basic training he returned home and placed a diamond ring on Lois’s finger, his high school sweet heart. He spent his 20th birthday aboard the Queen Marry on his way to England and eventually the invasion of Europe on June 6th 1944. He was a gunner with the 110th AAA Gun Bn. His unit saw action in the D-Day landings at Normandy, the St. Lo Breakthrough, the liberation of Paris, the Battle of the Bulge, and the crossing of the Rhine at Remagan. It was at Remagan where he proudly fired on the first jet fighter ever developed- the Me262. He returned home December 26th 1945 and married Lois 6 days later. Within 6 months they had moved to Seattle. He joined the Finzer Company as a sales representative. A daughter Sue was born in 1949 and a son Dan came along in 1952. Business opportunities lead him into the printing business in 1962. He owned and operated Edds Printing until his retirement in 1989. During retirement he enjoyed reconnecting with his buddies from World War ll. When his grandson Jason came along in 1992 he became a devoted grandpa. During Jason’s elementary school years, Harvey would pick him up from school and visit the grocery store for an ice cream bar before going home. After a 5 year battle with COPD he made his final journey home.
He is survived by a brother Quentin of Puyallup Washington and a sister Virginia of Ft Worth Texas, Lois his wife, a daughter Sue, a son Dan and his wife Kaye and a grandson Jason all of Bellevue, Washington.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of his life, Monday, September 27, 2010, 4:30pm, at Sunset Hills Funeral Home; 1215 - 145th Place SE Bellevue, WA. Interment at Tahoma National Cemetery.
