Iva Ruth Severance

Iva was born on May 14th 1940 in Trenton, New Jersey. She was raised by her Grandmother and they lived in New Jersey & New York. Her Grandmother died of stomach cancer when Iva was about nine years old.At that time Iva decided that she wanted to be a nurse because of helping take care of her Grandmother.

Iva was about eleven when she went to live with her Father in the Philadelphia area. He enrolled her in catholic school & then ST. Huberts High School for Girls where she graduated from in 1958.

After graduating from high school Iva got her L P N license through a program at Albert Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia. Iva loved nursing & had her license for 52 years.

Iva came to Seattle for the World's Fair in 1962 & met with her Mother who lived in Seattle. After returning to Pilly for a couple of years Iva decided to return to Seattle to get to know her Mother better, so in Dec of 1964 she returned to Seattle. She had planned to go back east but met a young man and they married & had a son { Robert } & then later divorced.

Iva was working at ST. Frances Hospital { in Seattle } in 1974 where she met a patient named Russell whom she married on Valentine's Day of 1975. After they married they attended Calvary Christian Assembly where Iva worked with the Sonbeams, a class for adults with mental challenges. Iva also worked with Parish nursing which helped take care of people from the church. Iva really cared for people & loved to help them. In 1976, Russell adopted Robert to ensure Robert knew he was deeply loved and cared for by both Iva and Russell.

Iva went home to be with her LORD on June 3rd after 50 years of marriage.

Iva is survived by her Husband Russell, son Robert & Wife Valorie & their son Joshua, the Love of her life. Also had 2 step children Kathy & Clifford. Sister Brenda. Brother-in-law Gerald & is wife Janice & a number of Nieces & Nephews.
