Mrs. Jeanette Ann Ewy Bussey Ragsdale, age 91, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, November 20, 2025, at her home in Bothell, WA. She was born July 9, 1934 in Hillsboro, KS, a daughter of the late Walter and Elma Ewy. Jeanette grew up in Radium and Stafford, KS and went on to graduate from University of Kansas before moving to New Orleans to begin a fulfilling career as a nurse at Charity Hospital. While in New Orleans, Jeanette married Troy Bussey and began a family which grew while moving to Boulder, CO, Moscow, ID, and finally Newcastle, WA. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, entertaining, and camping. Along the way, she also participated in P.E.O. and found other communities of lifelong friends.
After Troy Bussey’s death in 1994, Jeanette was reintroduced to Bob Ragsdale at their 50th high school reunion in Stafford, KS and married in 2003. They were married for 22 happy years in which they enjoyed travel, singing groups, church activities, and time with family and friends.
Jeanette was a deeply devout Christian who dedicated her life to honoring and serving Jesus. She was a member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church for over 25 years, where she served as a deacon. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, traveling, music, singing, and playing bridge. She leaves us with a legacy of generosity, thankfulness, kindness, and the importance of family.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her first husband of 35 years, Troy Bussey; brother, Richard Ewy; and sister Carolyn Oltjen.
Jeanette is survived by husband Bobby (“Bob”) Ragsdale; son Doyle (Connie) Bussey, daughter Laura (Bill) Northey and son Troy (Carie) Bussey Jr.; five grandchildren: Rachel Northey, Megan (Greg) Northey, Emily Northey, John Bussey, and James Bussey. She also leaves behind many other family and friends who will deeply miss her warm and gracious presence.
Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2025, at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, with longtime friend, Reverend Rosalind Renshaw officiating. The family would like to invite you to a reception immediately following the service.
